Bugfix update for our chord, key and tempo detector
We have just updated SongKey MK4, our chord, key, and tempo detector, to version 4.0.1.
HoRNet SongKey MK4 goes beyond simple key recognition. It can also detect the chords being played and the song’s tempo. We’ve added MIDI input to detect chords and keys from MIDI tracks, as well as MIDI output for recognized chords, allowing you to record and edit them as needed. Additionally, SongKey MK4 now offers a standalone version that generates MIDI clock, keeping all your MIDI gear in sync with live audio input.
The key detection engine, based on a chromagram, now includes an AI unit built around a statistical chord progression model. This AI analyzes the chord sequence to determine the song’s key. The key recognition works in real-time, so you can switch songs without resetting the plugin. If a song changes key mid-way, the plugin will detect the new chord sequence and follow the key change—no internet connection needed.
SongKey is invaluable when you don’t have an instrument on hand to find the key of a song you’re working on or if you’re a DJ planning a mashup but unsure of a song’s key. The chord detection feature provides insights into the chord progression, helping you design better bass lines and pads.
