We have just released the new ThirtyOne MK2, the latest evolution of our highly regarded audio processing tool. With this update, we’ve taken everything that was great about the original model and built upon it, adding new features and improvements that are sure to elevate your music production experience.

ThirtyOne MK2 is a powerful tool that seamlessly combines a spectrum analyzer and a graphic equalizer, both of which are equipped with the standard 31 one-third octave bands. These tools are essential in any professional audio engineer’s arsenal, especially in live sound setups where precision and control are paramount. Spectrum analyzers and graphic equalizers are commonly found in live mixers, and engineers frequently use them to manage and shape the audio output in real-time. The master bus is often where these tools are placed, giving engineers the ability to monitor and adjust the overall frequency balance of the mix. With ThirtyOne MK2, you get the same level of professional-grade functionality, but now with enhanced features that take your mixing to the next level.

We modeled the behavior of the spectrum analyzer after a well-known Italian analog spectrum analyzer, ensuring that every detail was faithfully recreated. In order to guarantee accuracy and authenticity, we meticulously studied and replicated its time response. This means that when you use ThirtyOne MK2, you get an analyzer that behaves exactly as you would expect from high-quality hardware, giving you the confidence to make precise adjustments to your mix.

The graphic equalizer in ThirtyOne MK2 draws its inspiration from the best analog units on the market, bringing a familiar and tactile feel to your master chain. One of the standout features of the equalizer is the smooth LED lighting, which was designed to replicate the behavior of physical hardware. We achieved this by gradually increasing the current flow to the LEDs, creating the same fluid and organic response that you would find on analog units. The LED columns follow a 20dB/octave filter, which means that you get a smooth, gradual change in response that accurately mirrors the design of the original analog devices. Whether you’re tracking fast peaks or monitoring average frequencies, you can easily switch between three different response speeds0.25 seconds, 1 second, or 4 seconds—to suit your workflow and the specific needs of your session.

Another key feature of the LED display is the way it represents the dB values. Each LED column corresponds to 1, 2, or 3 dB values, with an additional option to set it to 6dB/LED for finer control. This flexibility allows you to choose the setting that best suits the level of detail you need for your particular task. If you adjust the resolution, you’ll notice that the scale on the left side of the display automatically updates to reflect the change, ensuring that you always have a clear and accurate visual representation of your audio signal. We’ve also included a peak-hold feature for each frequency band, which allows you to track the highest point of each band, even after the signal has passed. This feature wasn’t available in the original unit, and we’re excited to offer it in the new ThirtyOne MK2, adding an extra layer of flexibility to your mixing process.

Beneath the spectrum analyzer, you’ll find a series of 31 sliders, each controlling a one-third octave filter. These sliders give you the ability to shape the output of each frequency band and make precise adjustments to correct any resonances or imbalances in your mix. The sliders are adjustable from -15 to +15 dB, which gives you a wide range of control over each band. For even more precision, you can type specific values directly into the input box beneath each slider. This level of detail ensures that you can fine-tune your audio exactly how you want it.

In addition to the traditional manual control of each frequency band, we’ve introduced a revolutionary “Auto EQ” function. When you activate Auto EQ, the plugin will automatically adjust the gain for each band based on the output of the spectrum analyzer. This takes the guesswork out of the process and ensures that your mix is optimized for harmonic balance with no manual intervention required. The ThirtyOne MK2 comes with three distinct Auto EQ algorithms: Average, Median, and Lucky. The first two algorithms are based on well-established mathematical models, while the third, Lucky, is a bit of a happy accident that we stumbled upon during development. We were so impressed with its sound that we decided to keep it as part of the package.

In addition to the features carried over from the original version, ThirtyOne MK2 introduces several exciting new enhancements that make it even more powerful and flexible. One of the most requested features is the ability to bypass individual frequency bands. Now, you can bypass each band of the equalizer independently, allowing you to isolate specific parts of the frequency spectrum for more detailed editing. You can also put any frequency band into solo mode to hear it in isolation, which is especially useful for fine-tuning individual elements of the mix.

Another new feature is the ability to disable individual bands from the Auto EQ processing. This gives you even more control over how the Auto EQ function behaves and allows you to fine-tune the process to suit your specific needs. We’ve also improved the compensation curve editing process, making it easier than ever to make adjustments and achieve the perfect tonal balance. The ability to export and import compensation curves means that you can save your work and load it into future projects, ensuring consistency across your sessions. Additionally, presets can now be exported and imported, giving you the option to save and share your settings with others.

For an even better user experience, we’ve made the GUI fully scalable and hardware-accelerated. This means that you can use ThirtyOne MK2 on a wide range of devices, with a smoother and more responsive interface than ever before.

ThirtyOne MK2 is now available for just 20,99€. If you’re a current owner of the previous version, you can upgrade to the new version for only 2,99€.
