Emulation of a vintage compressor sustainer guitar effect
HoRNet Plugins, has released HCS1, emulation of a vintage compressor sustainer guitar effect.
HoRNet HCS1 faithfully recreates a famous guitar compressor sustainer pedal effect that was produced from the mid-seventies to the mid-eighties. This pedal smooths sustain on electric guitars by acting like a compressor.
The plugin replicates the unique effect that this compressor pedal has on dynamics. It delivers that distinctive sound, celebrated by guitarists worldwide, directly to your computer.
This specific compressor pedal features a fixed threshold and processes signals both above and below this threshold. For example, if the input is very low, such as a note naturally decaying, the internal volume is significantly boosted. Conversely, if the signal exceeds the threshold, like the initial pick of a note, it gradually decreases. This action differs from the classic compressors used in audio. As a result, it produces a distinctive sound that works wonders on guitars and is also intriguing on other sources like keyboards or drums.
You can adjust only a few parameters of the compressor effect. Although the threshold and attack time are fixed, the plugin includes a knob labeled “Attack.” This knob actually controls the release of the compressor. Consequently, it affects how much of the “attack” you hear in the sound. Thus, the label “Attack” reflects this function.
