We have just updated JammingRock, our new amplifier simulator and effects collection dedicated to reggae music.

Hornet Jamming Rock (or JR 77) is a plugin designed to emulate the typical reggae-guitarist setup. Jamming Rock draws inspiration from a famous Japanese jazzy amplifier, known for its unique solid-state design optimized for producing a clean sound. This amplifier is popular among reggae jazz guitarists.

The original unit became very popular with reggae musicians. It offered guitarists a professional sound at a reasonable price. Being a solid-state amplifier, it also eliminated the need for tube replacement and periodic maintenance. We have faithfully replicated this feature in our JammingRock plugin.

At HoRNet Plugins, we captured the essence of the original amplifier. Beyond that, we optimized everything inside the amplifier and its surrounding components to replicate an authentic reggae guitar tone.

We also added a screaming overdrive modeled on a green pedal, produced by another equally famous Japanese company. The pedal distorts the guitar’s sound and provides a “boost” for the amp tubes. To complete the effects chain, we included two reggae “must-have” effects: a delay and a reverb, in addition to the spring reverb available on the JC.

The delay is a digital delay that you can set either manually or in sync with your DAW. We also added a digital reverb, borrowing the “circuitry” from our HorNet Spaces plugin, alongside the one already available on the JC.

The new 1.0.2 version is a maintenance release and includes:
  • Fixed the issue with presets not loading in the Mac version

  • Improved performance for the overdrive pedal DSP

The update is free for owners of the plugin, and you can download it with HoRNet DoIn or from the user area.
