We have just updated HoRNet HTS9, the classic guitar overdrive pedal.

HoRNet HTS9 is a tube screamer VST overdrive modeled after a famous pedal produced since the early 1980s. Many recordings feature the distinct sound of this pedal, making it a favorite among blues and rock guitar players. The pedal lightly distorts the guitar sound and provides a “boost” for the amplifier tubes.

It accomplishes this through two different stages. The first stage uses a frequency-dependent diode clipper that only distorts frequencies above 720Hz. This design keeps the bass clean and prevents it from becoming muddy while giving the high frequencies more body. The second stage shapes the tone with a filter that morphs from a low shelf to a high shelf. To reduce the fizz introduced by the diode clipper, the signal passes through a gentle 3dB/octave low pass filter.

Our simulation stays true to the original sound while adding a gain compensation algorithm that keeps the output constant, even when you increase the drive. We’ve also added analog-style processing throughout the signal path, which you can disable if you prefer a cleaner sound. The plugin provides the best possible sound with automatic oversampling, offering 4x oversampling at 44100 and 48000 Hz, and 2x at 88100 and 96000 Hz.

The new 1.2.0 version is a bug fix release that includes Apple Silicon support and slight performance improvements.

The update is free for plugin owners and can be downloaded from the user area or using our downloaded installer HoRNet DoIn.
