Bugfix up date for this classic opto compressor
HoRNet HA2A meticulously recreates a renowned opto compressor, built with a unique combination of a photoresistor and an electroluminescent panel.
We drew inspiration by measuring a real unit’s response. We measured the transfer function, the attack and release behavior. Then we incorporated these data into this new plugin. This effort not only enhances the OPTO model in Multicomp Plus MK2 but also faithfully replicates the sound of this historic compressor.
While recreating the original compressor’s sound, including the tubes and transformers, we also updated it for the 21st century. We added several modern features, such as input and output VU meters, auto input gain with a target level of up to 6VU. Additionally, the plugin includes automatic makeup gain, an automatic compression setting with peak reduction targeting, separate dry and wet controls for parallel compression, and mode selection (stereo, dual mono, mid, or side). You can also use the bypass button, integrated within the analog emulation, to employ the plugin as a tube saturator.
To enhance authenticity, we included our analog emulation technology. This technology simulates the input transformer, tube amplifier, and output transformer. However, if you prefer a clean, modern sound, you can easily disable the analog emulation.
We ensured the highest possible quality by integrating intelligent oversampling into the algorithm. The oversampling amount adjusts automatically based on your sample rate, as long as it’s lower than 192KHz.
The user interface features vectorial and hardware-accelerated design. It is fully resizable, ensuring it looks great on any monitor or screen size.
