We’ve just released an update for ChannelStrip MK3, the versatile plugin you can use on every track of your mix.

The HoRNet ChannelStrip MK3 is designed as a flexible, everyday tool. Our goal was to create a plugin you can insert on every channel, combining an EQ with two dynamic processors. This powerful combo gives you all the tools needed to craft a smooth, well-balanced mix.

In addition to the EQ and Dynamics sections, ChannelStrip MK3 includes a number of advanced features:

  • Six different signal path routings (for example, Expander -> EQ -> Compressor for a typical drum setup, or EQ -> FET Compressor -> OPTO Compressor for a typical vocal chain).
  • Analog emulation that not only adds saturation (each model with its own distinct saturation type) but also introduces other non-linearities inherent to analog gear.
  • Oversampling where it matters most. Each model employs a different oversampling level when activated, ensuring low CPU usage while delivering top-notch quality.
  • Effective metering: every module has its own input and output meters along with level trim. Since everything is based on analog models, we opted for VU meters instead of peak meters for more relevant feedback.
  • Input and output peak meters for monitoring maximum signal peaks when needed.
  • Automatic gain staging, ensuring the plugin always receives the ideal input level for its internal analog engine.

The EQ section of ChannelStrip MK3 features a single, smooth equalizer. Not only does it provide the classic controls found on a large console EQ, but it also includes carefully tuned EQ curves for extra precision. Specifically, the EQ section includes:

  • High-pass and low-pass filters.
  • A high shelf inspired by a well-known large-format console.
  • A low shelf modeled after the unique response of a famous passive EQ.
  • Three parametric bands with a wide Q range, ideal for both tonal shaping and more surgical filtering.

Moreover, ChannelStrip MK3 offers two dynamic processors, giving you the flexibility to apply as much compression as you need. Each dynamic module comes with four distinct compression models, each emulating a different analog character:

  • VCA: Modeled after standard console compressors, it delivers versatile, solid-state feed-forward compression.
  • FET: Based on vintage fast FET units, this feedback compressor can be highly aggressive.
  • OPTO: Inspired by a classic tube limiter, this feed-forward compressor provides a smooth and natural response.
  • Expander: A traditional gate/expander based on VCA design.

The new version 3.2.0 introduces:

  • Support for Apple Silicon.
  • Fixed an issue with interface size on high-DPI monitors in Windows.

This update is free for plugin owners and can be downloaded from the user area.
