We just updated AutoGain Pro MK2, the super flexible gain automation utility.

AutoGain Pro MK2 is a flexible volume automation processor with a mid/side processing option. It uses the same processing code as AutoGain Pro but doubles the processing units. It now offers two different detectors and two separate processors.

When set to “classic” mode, AutoGain Pro MK2 emulates the behavior of the original AutoGain. However, it also operates in stereo or mid/side mode. Each detector can use one of five different sources, either internal or external. Each processor can select its source from detector one or detector two.

This setup provides AutoGain Pro MK2 with high flexibility. It doesn’t just handle basic volume automation. It also offers features typically found in compressors or transient shapers.

The detectors let you fine-tune the control signal with attack and release controls. You can also use high-pass and low-pass filters to focus on specific parts of the signal for analysis. Adjusting the detector signal’s level allows you to increase or decrease its effect on the processor.

Each detector generates a control signal. That signal goes to one of the processors, where it’s compared to the input signal. The processor then computes and applies the required gain.

You can adjust the computed gain using the “scaler” knob. You can also limit the gain with the “max gain” and “min gain” controls.

The new 2.1.0 version includes:

  • We fixed the sidechain issue in recent versions of Pro Tools.

  • We increased the maximum gain to 36dB.

  • We resolved an issue with automation not being written in Cubase.

  • We added support for Apple M1.

  • The minimum macOS requirement changed to 10.11.

The update is free for plugin owners and can be downloaded from the user area.
